And the story behind its speedy creation…

Going back just a week ago, I got off a call with coach and mentor Lianne Byrne from Cape Town, South Africa.

Lianne describes herself as a “Corporate escapee turned productivity mentor & marketing and accountability coach”.

“I teach women how to use technology, marketing and planning tools to create systems and automation for greater PRODUCTIVITY and illuminate what is possible in the world of online business”.

“My ultimate aim is to help free up their time, reduce stress & anxiety so they find real balance, reclaim their lives and purposefully go after their goals”.

Lianne practices what she preaches, during our call I said how I had been deliberating for the past few months about building out a brand-new site just for my coaching clients, however I didn’t have the time to put into it just yet.

Her advice was “Why don’t you just do a landing page James?” and then it hit me, that would be the most effective thing I can do right now, Lianne herself was also in the process of creating her own landing page. So, she said let’s do the “Create your Landing Page 2-week Challenge together”, which she invented herself on the spot!

I create landing pages all the time for my coach clients, yet I had never created one for myself!

The challenge was set, and we both were accountable to each other, there was only one thing to do which was to get to work.

Lianne has a way of giving you the productive kick up the backside that you need all the way from Cape Town, South Africa!!!

And after a week of work here is my brand-new landing page designed exclusively for business coaches, consultants and mentors…..

I’m from a little riverside town called Bedford in Bedfordshire,

located in the East of England.

I’m always surprised by the many local coaches that I encounter in my own hometown.

There must be something in the river!

So many of the coaches I work with are online, all over the UK and World.

Being behind a screen and having Zoom calls all day can get lonely!

It’s so nice to meet local coaches, doing great things!

I’m inspired by them, it’s a pleasure to get to know them and work alongside some of them.

They are so talented and work with clients all over, it’s great to know that I can just have a coffee with them.

We need to celebrate local businesses more and create business relationships where we are as well as in other towns and cities.

Support local when possible.

Go to the events they have going on,

Help and support as much as you can.

I love Zoom and am grateful for working with coaches that are not local to me.

But I also love meeting people in real-life,

Here’s a shoutout to some of the local Bedford-based coaches.
Jonathan Green, Anita Mattu, Vikki Amour, Siobhan Godden ACC, Teresa Brooks, Enfys Maloney, Carlene Nisbett, Martina Glover Schirinzi

I hope I didn’t miss anyone! If I did, feel free to drop your names in the comments below.

If you’re a local coach in and around Bedford, Bedfordshire and we’ve not met before, it would be great to connect and have a real-life coffee.

It can be very difficult sometimes to generate new leads while your busy coaching clients and managing your coaching business.

Lead generation is important for the survival of every business, without new leads coming in, you’ll soon run out of cash for your business.

Going out to networking events can seem overwhelming, you often waste valuable time and end up getting leads that are just not willing to pay for your service offerings. Posting endless content on social media can seem like a winning formula too but without any strategy behind it, it can quickly become a waste of time. A lot of coaches end up being paid less than they are worth, working with clients who just don’t value their expertise.

Your website is the only piece of valuable real estate that you have online that you can fully control what goes on there and how it looks. As a business coach, you should be taking full advantage of using your website to generate new leads, with just a few simple strategies you can attract new prospects that are willing to buy your coaching services.

Here are my 3 top strategies that will help you to generate leads from your coaching website.

1 – Produce content, without great content, your clients will struggle to find you. Provide your potential clients will useful free information that encourages them to engage with your content. Blogs are a great way to generate new content on your website. Initially, it can be hard to take time out of coaching your clients to produce content, schedule time into your calendar once a week to focus on producing quality content.

2 – Make sure you are using Calls to Action or CTA’s for short, this can be in the form of an image, button or message that encourages your website visitors to take some sort of action. A simple ‘Book a Call’ or ‘Book a Free Discovery Call’ button located on your menu and throughout your site pages can encourage people easily to book a call with you. You can easily connect to a scheduling app like Calendly to make your life easier and very quickly fill your calendar with new client meetings.

3 – Create a landing page, CTA’s are great, however, they need to lead somewhere, a landing page is a perfect way to use a webpage to capture lead information, in exchange for an offer. Many coaches now use landing pages to capture contact details like emails, usually in the form of a ‘Subscribe to Newsletter’ form. Any valuable content you have in the form of lead magnets like free ebooks or cheatsheets can be sent out along with your newsletter. prospects who are willing to engage with you are highly likely to become clients in the future.

And there you have it my 3 top strategies that will help you to generate leads from your coaching website.

If you would like to know more about how I can help you generate leads and save you time in your coaching business, feel free to get in touch with me and book a discovery call.

Crafting a logo is a journey filled with creative possibilities, yet it can also be daunting without proper planning. It’s not merely about selecting fonts, colours, and imagery; it’s about encapsulating your brand’s essence in a single emblem. Understanding the significance of a logo is paramount—it’s not just an expense but an investment in your brand’s identity and perception.

Your logo serves as the face of your business, often making the crucial first impression on potential clients. Just as you wouldn’t compromise on essential aspects of your business, such as insurance or office space, cutting corners on your logo can have lasting repercussions. Remember the age-old adage: “You get what you pay for.”

Despite its apparent simplicity, logo design is a nuanced craft. It’s about more than aesthetics—it’s about creating a memorable, timeless, and versatile symbol that resonates with your audience. Here’s a checklist to guide you through the logo design process:

1. Memorable, Simple, Versatile, Appropriate, and Timeless:

Your logo should embody these qualities to leave a lasting impression and remain relevant over time.

2. Purpose and Usage:

Define the intended use of your logo—whether it’s for print, web, or other mediums—to ensure it translates effectively across various platforms.

3. Imagery Preferences:

Communicate any specific imagery ideas you have for your logo. Providing rough sketches can aid designers in realizing your vision accurately.

4. Colour Preferences and Brand Identity:

Choose colours thoughtfully, as they will become integral to your brand identity. Consistency in colour usage fosters brand recognition and cohesion across all touchpoints.

5. Typography Selection:

Selecting the right typography is crucial, as it will represent your brand across all marketing materials. Consider factors such as readability, style, and alignment with your brand’s personality.

6. Usage Context:

Anticipate where your logo will be used to ensure its scalability and legibility across different mediums, from business cards to billboards.

7. Inspirations and Preferences:

Share examples of logos you admire with your designer, highlighting elements that resonate with your brand’s aesthetic and values.

Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to logo design. It’s a collaborative process between you and your designer, guided by thorough communication and a shared vision. Here’s a glimpse into the designer’s workflow:

1. Design Brief:

Understand the client’s requirements, brand identity, and target audience to establish a clear design direction.

2. Brainstorming and Sketching:

Generate multiple concepts through brainstorming sessions and translate ideas into rough sketches for exploration.

3. Digital Exploration:

Refine selected concepts digitally, experimenting with typography, colour schemes, and imagery to create polished logo drafts.

4. Feedback and Iteration:

Present initial logo options to the client for feedback, incorporating suggestions and revisions to refine the design further.

5. Finalisation:

Select the preferred logo design and make any final adjustments before delivering the completed logo package.

In conclusion, investing in a well-crafted logo is paramount for establishing a strong brand identity and making a memorable impression. By following this checklist and collaborating closely with your designer, you can create a logo that truly reflects the essence of your business and resonates with your audience.

Small business owners, in particular, may find the idea of networking overwhelming, preferring to steer clear of such events altogether.
Revamping your graphic design is a critical aspect of maintaining a fresh and engaging brand presence in today’s competitive landscape. As a freelance graphic and web designer, I understand the challenges of balancing client work with the need to continuously improve and innovate our own business presence. Yet, neglecting our own branding can have serious repercussions, leading to missed opportunities and a disconnect with our target audience.

Whether you’re considering a complete overhaul or just some minor tweaks, here are 7 impactful ways to completely revamp your graphic design:

New Logo: Your logo is the cornerstone of your brand identity. If it feels outdated or no longer resonates with your target audience, it might be time for a refresh. A modern, well-designed logo can breathe new life into your brand and make a lasting impression on potential clients.

New Business Card Design: Your business card is often the first tangible representation of your brand that potential clients receive. Make sure it leaves a lasting impression by updating it regularly. Consider incorporating modern elements like social media icons and QR codes to enhance connectivity and engagement.

New Website Design: Your website is your digital storefront and often the first point of contact for potential clients. Even if your current website seems adequate, it’s crucial to stay ahead of the curve in terms of design trends and technology. An outdated website can turn away potential clients and harm your online reputation. Ensure your website is not only visually appealing but also optimised for mobile devices to reach a broader audience.

Social Media Icon: In today’s interconnected world, social media presence is non-negotiable. Make sure your brand is easily recognisable across all platforms by using a high-quality social media icon. This small detail can make a big difference in attracting new followers and generating leads.

Visual Consistency: Consistency is key to building a strong brand identity. Ensure that your branding elements, including colours, fonts, and imagery, remain consistent across all platforms. Consistency fosters brand recognition and builds trust with your audience.

Quality Imagery: Invest in high-quality imagery that reflects your brand’s values and resonates with your target audience. Original, authentic images can make a significant impact and differentiate your brand from competitors who rely on generic stock photos.

Typography: Typography plays a crucial role in conveying your brand’s personality and message. Evaluate your current typefaces and experiment with different fonts to find ones that enhance readability and convey the right tone. Simple, modern typography can elevate your brand identity and make your message more impactful.

In conclusion, revamping your graphic design isn’t just about making aesthetic enhancements – it’s about staying relevant, engaging your audience effectively, and driving business growth. Whether you’re making subtle tweaks or embarking on a complete overhaul, investing in your design can yield significant returns in terms of brand perception, customer engagement, and overall success. Don’t wait until it’s too late – start revitalising your graphic design today to propel your business into the future.

Today marks a significant milestone in my journey as a freelance graphic and web designer – it’s my website’s first birthday! It’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed since I launched my brand-new digital space. Reflecting on the journey thus far, I realize just how much I’ve grown and learned along the way.

Over the past year, I’ve encountered numerous challenges and opportunities for growth. I’ve experimented with various design techniques and strategies, and while some ideas didn’t quite hit the mark, each iteration brought valuable insights. Design, after all, is a process of trial and error, of continuous refinement. It’s about finding that perfect balance and constantly evolving to stay ahead of the curve.

Working on client projects has been instrumental in my development as a designer. Collaborating with clients and translating their visions into reality has not only enhanced my technical skills but also expanded my creative horizons. Each project has presented unique challenges and learning opportunities, pushing me to innovate and refine my craft further.

One of the most significant strides I’ve made this year is in streamlining my design process. Embracing tools like WordPress and Elementor has revolutionized the way I work, allowing me to design more efficiently and effectively. Tasks that once took days can now be completed in a matter of hours, freeing up valuable time for creativity and innovation.

As I look back on the countless hours and effort invested in designing my website, I’m filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. It’s only now, a year later, that I can truly appreciate the fruits of my labor with a fresh perspective. My website serves not only as a digital portfolio but also as a testament to my growth and evolution as a designer.

As I celebrate this milestone, I’m filled with gratitude for the journey thus far and excitement for the road ahead. With each passing year, I’m committed to pushing the boundaries of creativity, embracing new challenges, and continuing to deliver exceptional design solutions for my clients. Here’s to another year of innovation, growth, and success! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Cheers to many more birthdays to come!
